タイ政府、5000億バーツのデジタルウォレット計画を承認

タイ政府は、5000億バーツ規模のデジタルキャッシュ制度を導入する計画を発表した。この「デジタルウォレット」制度は、1人当たり1万バーツをタイ国民に配布し、地域内の特定の店舗での消費を促進することを目的としている。対象となるのは、年間所得が84万バーツ以下で、金融機関に50万バーツ以下の貯蓄を持つ16歳以上の国民である。

この制度の資金は、2024年および2025年の国家予算から賄われる予定であり、具体的には2024年度予算から1750億バーツ、2025年度予算から1527億バーツが充てられる。また、農業協同組合銀行からも1723億バーツが拠出される見込みである。このデジタルウォレットは、アルコールやタバコなどの「罪のある商品」の購入には使用できない。

一方で、この制度に対しては、財政面での持続可能性や効果に関して懸念の声が上がっており、議会や関係機関からの審査が進められている
